WIGHT EAGLES’ DOUBLE CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS AND MORE!

There was double success for the Eagles at the end of the season with our teams winning no less than two Championships in the Hampshire Girls Youth Football League. Not only that, there was a runners-up place for a third Eagles team.

First, our Under 13s wrapped up the U13 Division 3 League title at a gallop at the end of March. Then, on 3 May, our Under 15s won the Division 2 title with a fine 4-2 victory over fellow title-chasers Ringwood Town. In addition, our Under 11s were runners-up in their divisional title race.

Director of Football Dan Verstraeten said “It’s been an amazing year for the Academy, with two of our sides crowned champions. I would like to thank and congratulate all the players and their managers for their success, and to the parents for supporting us all the way.”

Chair Mike Ross added “It has been a year of great progression. Dan and his staff are to be congratulated for their success, but above all we should thank the girls for their skills and tenacity. All the hard work of training, on dark winter nights and beyond, has paid off. We are already looking forward to next season.”
